I perfer Vandoren reeds and my Band Director? only charges $2.00 for a Clarinet reed and $3.00 for Bass Clarinet reeds.

@milnak im pretty? sure that if you know how to adjust reeds, the should sound good. I only have to adjust at the most 2 vandoren reeds out of 10. vandoren sounds beter than ricos any day.

@bleachload13 Maybe. But in the winter I get my reeds from my private instructor, who makes them. More stable than consumer and those definitely last me 3? months... And I'm sure clipping and shaving can prolong the life.

I play a Buffet ...
I play a Buffet Prestige with a Chadash barrel, Vandoren M13 mouthpiece, and a Robert Vinson ligature. I'll only use Vandorens with this setup because Ricos are certainly too soft to use on an M13. No matter what brand you're using, you're going to have to adjust when they come out of the box. Also people? who complain about the price, one reed should last you about 3 months, at least! You buy a box of 10 so do the math. It's all about what you like and what your setup is.

Ive used Vandoren ...
Ive used Vandoren 31/2 for awhile, but they seem alot harder, vandoren v.12 are really expensive but softer, but rico plastic covers are? actually pretty legit, they last longer too

I have always used Rico Royals since they came out. They seem to give me the best results. My question is, why are they so expensive? All they are is a piece of wood!?

Personally, I like Vandoren reeds better since I have a? Vandoren mouthpiece. I never knew Rico reeds were made like this, though.

@littlecatfisfINC My experience was the exact? opposite :) my Ricos responded and sounded much better and where more consistent than vandoren. And vandoren is rougher
